ALEX (Brazed Aluminum Heat Exchanger)

ALEX is the trade name of a brazed aluminum heat exchanger developed independently by Kobe Steel in 1963 for use as the regenerator in air separation plants. Kobe Steel is one of the leading manufacturers of brazed aluminum heat exchangers and is the top user of ALEX. We also own the air separation plants technology within our group. Behind ALEX is the fusion of Kobe Steel’s comprehensive technologies.
Compactness and simple configuration characterize our products, offering a large heat transfer area per unit volume with aluminum alloy construction for good economy. Mass production is facilitated by standardized components and common work processes, leading to reduced installation area and lower construction costs through modular fabrication, as well as reduced start-up time. They are suitable for a wide range of applications, including various heat exchange processes like condensation and vaporization, with the capability to add or remove fluid during operation with multifluids, and efficient extraction of heavy gas components from multigas mixtures. These products are strong enough to withstand repeated stress and thermal shock, applicable under high pressures up to 13 MPa, and the aluminum alloy structure allows operation at very low temperatures of -269°C.
